What “Organic” really means

When it comes to choosing herbs for our blends, Mosscap Tea values quality, sustainability, and connection to nature above all. While the "organic" label is often seen as the gold standard for quality, we choose not to prioritize it for a few reasons.

The Financial (In)Accessibility of Organic Certifications

The organic certification process can be an expensive and bureaucratic one that may not always align with our values. Organic certification typically focuses on meeting certain farming standards such as avoiding pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, yet it doesn’t set standards that get to the root of sustainable farming. Many small-scale farmers who grow herbs without chemicals may not have the financial resources to pursue certification but still follow practices that are better for the environment and the plants.

Our Focus: Working with Small Farmers and Nature

We prioritize working with farmers who are deeply committed to sustainable and respectful growing practices. Many of our growers use regenerative and eco-conscious techniques, even if they don't have the "organic" label. Our personal relationships with these farmers allow us to ensure that the herbs are grown in a way that nurtures the soil, the local ecosystem, and the community.

The Importance of Authenticity

For us, the most important factor in choosing herbs is their authenticity and vibrancy. We believe that true wellness comes from a deep, connected relationship with the earth, which is why we often look beyond certifications and focus on ethical, conscious farming practices. Our herbs are carefully sourced, naturally grown, and full of the healing energy that nature offers.

wishing you bountiful spring blooms,

Arthur
